Phentirmene

Branding a product with a name that sounds like or is almost spelled like an accepted, popular product is nothing new. Riding on the name recall power of a similar diet pill is a marketing strategy that aims to confuse and through confoundedness, capture a share of the competing pill’s would-be customers. Many websites, in their wilfulness or ignorance, mislead a lot of people into thinking phentirmene and phentermine are one and the same. Lest you think phentirmene is the generic form of phentermine or even its modified version, read on.

What is Phentirmene?

Phentirmene is a weight loss supplement belonging to the category of fat burners. Phentirmene is not the generic form of phentermine nor does it contain phentermine in its ingredient stack. While phentirmene is a non-prescription, over-the-counter supplement, phentermine is a medication and is likewise the generic name of calorie restrictive brand-name drugs such as Adipex-P®, Duromine® and Obestin-30®. Other than their names sounding and spelling almost alike, there is almost nothing in common between phentirmene and phentermine.

The Difference

About a vast load of difference separates these two weight loss aids. First off, phentermine is a weight loss drug, regulated in the U.S. by the FDA and legalized for use only through a health practitioner’s prescription. Phentermine is also the active ingredient in phentermine pills, name-branded or otherwise. It is a sympathomimetic amine with a chemical structure akin to amphetamines that acts on the nervous system to bring about appetite suppression. Phentirmene, on the other hand, is sold over-the-counter as a weight loss supplement. As an OTC, it does not need a doctor’s prescription to be purchased legally; and, just like an abundant number of supplements, neither does it have the seal of approval from the FDA. There are no drugs in Phentirmene, only herbs, their extracts, minerals and other non-regulated substances. Phentermine is an appetite suppressant whereas phentirmene is better described as a fat burner.

What’s In A Pill?

Phentirmene’s active ingredients are:
  • PEA or phenylethylamine, a natural alkaloid which is known to have euphoric or stimulating properties that help enhance mood, concentration and energy.
  • Bioperine®, a patented extract of pepper, assists in the absorption of nutrients and enhances the potency of other substances such as amino acids and antioxidants. It is also thought to increase metabolism and thereby the body’s ability to burn fat.
  • Chromax®, a trade name for chromium picolinate, helps regulate insulin and therefore blood sugar levels. Healthy blood sugar levels promote healthier metabolic functions.
  • Caffeine Anhydrous USP is a highly charged form of caffeine that is used in many weight loss supplements for its powerful thermogenic effects.
Phentirmene’s other metabolic or fat burning ingredients include:
  • Coleus forskohlii
  • Raspberry ketones
  • Eviodamine
  • Fucoxanthin
  • Ginger root
  • Synephrine
Phentirmene also includes Vitamin B12, known for increasing energy, in its mix.

Side Effects

The ingredient stack reveals a lot of stimulants so expect to feel any or some of these: nervousness, headache, irritability, difficulty sleeping, and rapid heart rate. Most of the time, these side effects dissipate after a few weeks when the body gets used to the supplement. If there are other reactions such as allergies and increased blood pressure, stop taking the supplement and seek medical assistance immediately.

The Bottom Line

It doesn’t seem right to confuse consumers by opting for a brand name that’s almost spelled and pronounced like that of a well-known weight loss drug. It gives a notion that Phentirmene can’t stand on its own merit but needs to ride on the success of phentermine. Yet, with a decent ingredient stack, it perhaps deserves a second look. Be aware this supplement works as a fat burner, not as an appetite suppressant (like phentermine does).

Weight Comment’s Rating: 3 / 5

With a name almost identical to that of a popular diet drug, Phentirmene has a lot of proving to do.
